The points on this map are target coordinates produced by GeoVENA, a proprietary predictive targeting system. Each target is shown together with a verified oil and gas well in the basin, marked with a production facility symbol, and the distance between them.
The wells shown include some of the largest offshore discoveries of recent years. GeoVENA targets land 5.8 to 12.7 kilometres from the surface well locations.
An important point about these distances: the surface facility marks where the drilling entered, not where the resource sits. Offshore wells are drilled from a surface position that can stand kilometres away from the reservoir itself, which lies deep below and to the side, and a single reservoir can extend for many kilometres in every direction. A gap of several kilometres between a surface wellhead and a target can therefore fall within the extent of the same accumulation. The exact subsurface outlines are held privately by the operators; the surface wellheads are the only public reference points.
Every target is produced through a systematic, repeatable computational process. Nothing about the method, its inputs, or its workings is disclosed.
